In SIMS Next Gen, the census return process is streamlined and follows a single, logical workflow. Information contained in the detailed reports in SIMS7 is available for users to view on the screen. Users can also export the data into Excel and save it for future reference.
NOTE The content of graphics (dates, names, etc.) are representative only and may not reflect the current return dates.
Generating the summary report
Once the return has reached the review stage, users can view and print the Summary report from each stage for auditing purposes. The report can be printed from the browser if required.
Select View summary report [1a] from the census overview page to generate a report (similar to SIMS7) in a new browser tab.
Print the report
The report can be printed from the browser if required.
Select the ... menu for each row and click Export section [1b].
This will create and automatically download the information displayed in the sub-sections (equivalent to the detailed reports in SIMS7) to your Downloads folder.
IMPORTANT Move these files to a secure location in line with school policy, as they contain sensitive information.
Validation errors summary report
Select View validation errors summary report [1c] from the census overview page to generate a report using DfE validation of errors in a new browser tab.
