In order to output your CTF correctly you will need to be on the 7.202 (Autumn 2021) version of SIMS.net which includes a new CTF export routine. Due to issues with the School Workforce Census this year we have held off upgrading until you have completed your Workforce Return. Please let us know when your workforce return has been completed and when you would like your upgrade scheduling in.
Cancellation of the phonics screening check in June 2021 means incoming year 2 pupils did not take the check in year 1. In the 2021/22 academic year, it is statutory for schools to administer a past version of the phonics screening check to year 2 pupils during the second half of the 2021 autumn term and return results to the LA.
Year 2 pupils who meet the expected standard in phonics in the autumn check will not be required to complete any further statutory assessments in phonics. Year 2 pupils who do not meet the expected standard in the autumn check will be expected to take the statutory check in June 2022, alongside year 1 pupils.
Year 3 pupils, who were due to take the statutory check in June 2021 (when they were in year 2), are not formally required to take the autumn check. Schools are expected to maintain a programme of support for these pupils but do not need to return phonics data for year 3 pupils to the LA.
SIMS Guidance Notes
Please find attached to this article the guide to what you need to do to enter your Phonics Check data.
You will need to import the Year 1 Phonics Check 2021 but attach your current year 2 group. Then enter the data for them, and produce a CTF using the new CTF functionality in the 7.202 release. Then you will need to send the CTF to your Local Authority under their instructions for how they wish this to be done.
The attached guide is for SIMS if you are one of our schools using ScholarPack or Arbor please see the links below for their guidance on completing this check.
