There are two important points to note before making use of the following report definition files.
- These reports can only provide an approximation of the calculation made by the DfE when deciding on the provision of Deprivation Pupil Premium.
- These reports calculate the cohort from those on roll on 5th October 2023 (School Census Autumn 2023 reference day), which is the correct date to use for mainstream and special schools. However, it is not the correct date for Alternative Provision, Pupil Referral Units and hospital schools, which use January census reference date for the cohort.
An indication of the scale of DfE funding for Deprivation Pupil Premium in a Primary School can be estimated by multiplying the number of pupils listed in the report by £1480.
An indication of the scale of DfE funding for Deprivation Pupil Premium in a Secondary School can be estimated by multiplying the number of pupils listed in the report by £1050.
However, we must remember that this is only an indication of the 'scale' of this school funding, as the 'actual' DfE Deprivation Pupil Premium funding will take account of other data, such as in-care data provided by the LA. Where the DfE provides LAC (Looked After Child) Pupil Premium to the LA for a child, they will NOT also provide Deprivation Pupil Premium to the school for that same child. Similarly, where multiple schools 'claim' a pupil, the DfE may decide to split the funding between those schools.
